Gray Iron Foundry – Molding Position Job Description

​

Job Title: Foundry Molder / Mold Line Operator

​

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Molder to join our gray iron foundry team. This position is responsible for preparing and producing quality molds used in the manufacturing of gray iron castings. The ideal candidate will work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality standards and meeting production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare, build, and maintain sand molds for gray iron castings

• Operate molding equipment, molding machines, and related foundry machinery

• Set patterns, cores, and gating systems according to production specifications

• Inspect molds for quality, defects, and dimensional accuracy

• Repair molds and make necessary adjustments as needed

• Follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures

• Perform routine housekeeping and maintain a clean work area

• Assist with pouring, shakeout, grinding, or other foundry operations when needed

• Use overhead cranes, forklifts, or material handling equipment safely (if certified)

• Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding production or quality concerns

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous foundry, manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial experience preferred

• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with heat, dust, noise, and heavy materials

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to read work instructions and use basic measuring tools

• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with green sand molding or no-bake molding systems

• Familiarity with gray iron casting processes

• Forklift and overhead crane experience

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

​

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in a heavy industrial foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
